Concrete Wall Calculator
By Vinod Kondeti · Updated
A poured wall is a slab standing on its edge: length × height × thickness. Enter height in feet and thickness in inches, which is how wall forms are usually specified.
How do I measure for a wall pour?
- Subtract window or door openings by running them as a separate wall and taking the difference.
- For the footing under the wall, use the footing calculator.
- Forms can bow outward under the weight of wet concrete, so a waste allowance helps.
Wall concrete questions
How much concrete in a 20 ft × 4 ft wall, 8 in thick?
20 × 4 × (8÷12) = 53.3 ft³ = 1.98 yd³ before waste.
Does this work for block walls?
No. For a hollow block wall you only fill the cores, so use the block maker's grout-fill figures instead.
Bag yields: 0.30 / 0.45 / 0.60 ft³ for 40 / 60 / 80 lb standard concrete mix (manufacturer data sheets). The concrete guide has the formulas and worked examples.
